| CTC | Cost to Complete — the forecast of what the job will finally cost and earn. Saved one snapshot per month. |
| JTD | Job to Date — actual cost incurred so far, from the JC History export. |
| UC | Unit cost — dollars per unit of work (per LF, SY, CY…). |
| Budget UC | The unit cost in the original estimate. |
| Current UC | Actual cost to date ÷ quantity to date — what the work is really costing. |
| Rem. UC | Estimated Remaining Unit Cost — the rate the CTC expects for the work still left. The week view measures actual performance against this. |
| CTC proj. $ | Rem. UC × the quantity done this week — what the CTC says the week should have cost. |
| Cost var. | Actual − projected. Negative (green) beat the CTC rate; positive (red) ran over. |
| Δ$ vs prior wk | This week's actual cost against the previous imported week, for the same code. |
| SOV | Schedule of Values — the contract breakdown the pay app bills against. |
| QPC | The contract-item list the pay-app cost codes are crosswalked to. |
| UM | Unit of measure (LF, SY, CY, EA, LS…). |
| LS | Lump sum — priced as a whole, not per unit. |
| Held | A total carried forward from last month and pinned. Remaining values adjust around it so the held total stays put. |
| Final | A CTC month locked against saving, deleting and copy-overwrite. Unlock it from All CTCs. |
| NO EST ITEM | Cost charged to a phase code that maps to no contract item — it needs mapping in Project settings → Advanced. |
| WIP | Work in progress — earned revenue against billed revenue. Positive is over-billed (you have billed ahead of the work), negative is under-billed. It closes to zero by the end of the job. |
| Percent complete | Cost to date ÷ estimated total cost. This is the cost-to-cost method; it is what an accountant, a surety and a bonding agent compute. |
| Earned revenue | Contract revenue × percent complete — the revenue the work performed has actually earned, whatever has been billed for it. Equivalently, cost to date grossed up by the job's average margin. |
| Job basis | WIP taken on one blended ratio for the whole job. It needs nothing but job totals, so cost booked to the wrong item cannot move it. This is the standard method and the one the reports lead with. |
| Item basis | WIP taken per contract item and summed. Sharper than the job basis when the cost coding is clean, misleading when it is not — neither is a correction of the other, and where they disagree the coding is the thing to look at. |
| Uncoded cost | Cost booked to contract items that carry no revenue. It is a straight hole in the projected margin and the biggest single reason the two WIP bases disagree. |
| Backlog | Contract revenue not yet earned — the work still ahead of you, in revenue terms. |
| Executed CO | A change order that is signed and agreed. It is contract value and is counted as revenue. A pending one is disclosed everywhere it is shown and never counted, however likely it looks. |
| Approved contract value | Agreed scope — what the owner has actually committed to. Computed as original contract + executed change orders from the register, unless a figure is typed straight onto the month's cover sheet, in which case that one is used. Distinct from expected contract value, which is the CTC's forecast at completion and includes work still to be sold. |
| Retainage | The percentage the owner withholds from each pay application until the job closes out. Billed to date is a gross figure, before it is deducted. |
| Float | Total float, in working days: how long an activity can slip before it delays the finish. Zero float = on the critical path. |
| FS / SS / SF / FF | Predecessor link types — Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Start-to-Finish, Finish-to-Finish. |
| Article 29 | The contract clause on adverse weather. Lost days must be reported and shown to impact the critical path, and are measured against a monthly allowance. |
